Silvertech Wins Thruster Control Contract
Silvertech , the leading independent Main Automation Contractor (MAC) has won a contract from Diamond Offshore Drilling (UK) Ltd. for the supply of a Thruster Control System for the drilling semi-submersible Ocean Guardian.
The Thruster Control System provides vessel direction and propulsion control of multiple, full-azimuth capable thrusters. Control of individual thrusters may be applied manually, bypassing the control system, or through one of the integrated automatic control modes coded within the controller. The control modes will convert the operator force and moment commands into the appropriate individual thrusters commands.
The Silvertech contract covers the design, manufacture, testing, commissioning and site acceptance testing of the Thruster Control System. Silvertech’s high quality project and service offerings, coupled with its proven system design capabilities were key factors in the award criteria. To meet the challenging project schedules and convenience to client, Silvertech will engineer the project out of its Aberdeen offices with support from the Horsham headquarters.
Dermot Coady, Silvertech Sales Director commented on the success of winning the contract, ‘The drilling Industry has a reputation for being very demanding of their suppliers, we are therefore very pleased to get our second vote of confidence from Diamond’.
The award of the Thruster Control contract follows successful completion of the upgrade of a non-Y2K compliant SCAN 3000 based Ballast Control systems with a Honeywell Plantscape based system.
