South Africa's oil giant PetroSA participate in their local community life and recently arranged the PetroSA Dias Marathon. Silvertech are committed to our global clients at a very local level and as a result were delighted to demonstrate our commitment by sponsoring the first water point on the marathon.
All of the marathon runners set out at 6:00am on Saturday the 11 th February from the starting point on Santos beach and then enjoyed their first refreshments at ‘The Point' which is situated by the lighthouse, 3km into their running course.
The marathon was won by Donovan Wright in a very speedy time of only 2:24:54, with the first female crossing the line after only 3:15:49, Esme Koopman. Congratulations to them both.
Max D'Monte an Engineer with Silvertech, who has been working with the PetroSA team for several weeks, supporting them from within their own office base in South Africa, attended the event.
After all of the runners had passed, the surrounding area was tidied and then the PetroSA team celebrated with a Braai (South African for Bar-B-Q) to continue the social occasion. “The PetroSA Offshore Reliability team and Max, who were up from 4am, really enjoyed the event and a great day was had by all,” added Andre Nel, Instrument Superintendent for Offshore Operations with PetroSA.
