Silvertech Systems Inc Completes Factory Acceptance Test for Power Generation Facility

Silvertech Systems Inc. , based in Houston, a leading supplier of high integrity control and safety systems, announced o n November 2001, the completion of the Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) for a Diesel Power Generation Control System for a U.S. government facility.

The project involved the system-wide network integration of thirteen (13) diesel generators, numerous power distribution and switching centers, and third party monitoring systems into a common Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Human Machine Interface (HMI) platform. Approximately two thousand hard-wired Input/Output (I/O) points and several thousand soft points (third party comms) comprised the system. In addition to the PLC based indication and control system, Woodward governor controllers and actuators were supplied for each generator. All of the control system functionality was also simulated in two separate dynamic simulators supplied by Silvertech Systems Inc.

The entire system was staged at Silvertech’s Houston office and underwent a thorough integration test prior to the client witnessed FAT. One contributing factor to the success of the FAT was the ability to simulate the entire facility for the purposes of functional testing and training.

The equipment is currently in route to its final destination overseas and will be installed and commissioned in several stages over the next eighteen months. Silvertech will also be involved in the commissioning of the system on site and will continue to support the system via the remote simulator/test bed system maintained at its Houston facility.

This project was competitively bid by several major companies in the power industry and was secured by Silvertech in October 2000.
